Lesson #30: A Simple Hindi Conversation
So today we’re going to do something a little different! Instead of me teaching you anything new we’re going to recap over everything we’ve learnt recently by reading a ‘real-life’ Hindi conversation! If you want to refresh your memory at any point then please head back to the Conversational Section!

This conversation is between two people, सुरेश Suresh (male) and अमृता Amrita (female). It’s only a very short and simple conversation, but it should help you remember the things we’ve covered! So are you ready to get going?
Oh, and by the way did I mention, I’m not giving you the translation here - so you’re going to have to try and figure it out for yourself! Remember to check back to the Conversational Section if you get stuck! I have given a few tips at the end though.
Key - Speaker: Devanagari script transliteration.
सुरेश: नमस्कार Suresh: namaskaar
अमृता: नमस्ते, आपका नाम क्या है? Amritaa: namaste, aapkaa naam kyaa hai?
सुरेश: मैं सुरेश हूँ। और आपका नाम क्या है? Suresh: main suresh hoon. aur aapkaa naam kyaa hai?
अमृता: मेरा नाम अमृता है। आप कैसे हैं? Amritaa: meraa naam amritaa hai. aap kaise hain?
सुरेश: मैं बहुत अच्छा हूँ धन्यवाद, और आप? Suresh: main bahut accha hoon dhanyavaad, aur aap?
अमृता: मैं ठीक हूँ। फिर मिलेंगे Amritaa: main theek hoon. phir milenge
सुरेश: फिर मिलेंगे Suresh: phir milenge
There’s actually a few words here we haven’t covered yet. So just to be nice I’ll let you know what they are…
नमस्कार namaskaar - this is just another way of saying नमस्ते namaste - Hello.
धन्यवाद dhanyavaad - Thank you.
फिर मिलेंगे phir milenge - This literally translates to 'again see’ and means 'see you again’ or see you later, it’s used as a Goodbye.

Practicing real conversations is such a good way to help you remember everything!
How was that? Is it scary seeing a whole block of Hindi text? Honestly, that happens to everyone. Just keep working at it and you’ll get better and better, I promise.
