Lesson #74: The Sad Banana
You may have heard the phrase ‘The best way to learn is to have fun’. Well believe me, it’s true! Whatever it is you are learning, whether it’s a language or not, making the work exciting, fun and interesting will mean you’ll remember it so much easier.
I was told a Hindi joke on twitter earlier today by LuckyFatima and it inspired me to do something a little different today. This joke went like this;

Why was the Banana sad? … Because he was a-kelaa!
Now if you don’t understand, the word for Banana in Hindi is केला kelaa and the word for lonely or alone is अकेला akelaa - so because he was a-kelaa means both beause he was a banana and because he was lonely.
Perhaps you don’t find the joke that funny (though I do admit I was laughing for ages) but the point is that little 'stories’ or jokes like this make it so easy to remember the words.
I guarantee that if you had a little chuckle to yourself here you’ll always remember the words केला kelaa - Banana and अकेला akelaa - Lonely, just by remembering our sad banana.
If you’re ever feeling creative try and write your own 'sad banana’ jokes because not only does it make learning fun and interesting, it actually means you’ll remember and learn more! I’d love to see a few comments with some Hindi jokes so if you know any then please share!
