Lesson #42: Numbers 21 - 30
A while ago we saw the Numbers 0 - 10 and Numbers 10 - 20 in Hindi, so it’s about time we carried on learning the numbers! Unfortunately, when compared to English, Hindi numbers are a little bit more complicated. But this is no reason to give up, it just means that it will take a little while longer to get fluent with them! There is in fact a pattern to the numbers so see if you can spot it.
Key - English Numeral, Hindi Numeral, Devanagari, Transliteration
21 २१ इक्कीस ikkees
22 २२ बाईस baaees
23 २३ तेईस te'ees
24 २४ चौबीस caubees
25 २५ पच्चीस paccees
26 २६ छब्बीस chabbees
27 २७ सत्ताईस sattaaees
28 २८ अट्ठाईस atthaaees
29 २९ उनतीस unatees
30 ३० तीस tees
It’s really important, when learning Numbers especially, to do activities to make sure you remember the translations. Otherwise you’ll find that you won’t remember what you’ve learnt! Heres a tip for you; every single time you see a number in English think of the Hindi and if you can’t remember it then check back here until you can! One other way to help is to apply Lesson #41: How Old are You? and learn how all of your friends and relatives would say I am… and then however old they are.
I’ll try and post a few activities and games here soon to help you remember the numbers, until then just try and be inventive!
